Principal’s Message for 5th Grade (2020)

It is my honor as Principal of Roosevelt Elementary School, Home of the Brilliant Bears, to bid farewell to our 5th Grade Promoting Class of 2020.  It seems like not too long ago that we witnessed many of them reciting Mabel Watts’ poem, “Maytime Magic”.  Five years ago to be exact.  We remember that kindergarten poem:

A little seed

For me to sow…

A little earth

To make it grow…

A little hole,

A little pat…

A little wish,

And that is that.

A little sun,

A little shower…

A little while,

And then--a flower!

How much our 5th graders have grown!  From just that little seed, with the help of their parents, teachers, and peers, they have grown and blossomed into the individuals that they are today.  As they continue to grow and move on to Marshall Middle School, I would like to wish them the very best and remind each of our Brilliant Bears to 1) water your flower with kind words, 2) fertilize your roots with good character, 3) surround yourself with the love and sunshine of your families, and 4) remember that we are all here to support you in this Maytime Magic and beyond.

Best wishes to all of you, and congratulations on your achievement!
